BIOGRAPHY
Katerina I. Oikonomou is a Policy Analyst, holding a degree in Political Science from the University of Crete and a Master’s degree in Public and European Policy Analysis from the same university.
With several years of experience in strategic and political communication, as well as business consulting in licensing, development, intellectual property, and organizational structure, Ms Oikonomou has a strong track record in the public sector. She served at the General Secretariat of Industry (GSI) of the Ministry of Development and Investments (MDI) as an Advisor to the Secretary-General and subsequently as Director of the GSI’s Private Office. Her responsibilities included overseeing the reform of the business environment, both within the framework of the Enhanced Surveillance Mechanism and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, designing and coordinating the implementation of actions (state aid and non-aid) through the utilization of national resources and European funding instruments (ESPA -Partnership Agreement, National Development Program, RRF) and Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI).
She was a member of coordination and executive committees for the development and implementation of National Strategies and Action Plans for Industry. Concurrently, she was a Deputy Member of the Council of the National Smart Specialization Strategy, a member of the MoD&I Task Force for RRF projects, and Monitoring Committees for the Operational Programs of the ESPA 2021-2027.
As an Advisor to the Deputy Minister of the National Economy and Finance, Ms Oikonomou was involved in monitoring the execution of the Public Investment Program, alongside the design of its reform, the monitoring of the completion of the ESPA 2014-2020 Programming Period, as well as the monitoring of the implementation of the ESPA 2021-2027 and the National Development Programme 2021-2025. She has participated as a speaker in national and international scientific conferences. She is fluent in English.
