Dr. Lazaros C. Polymenakos

BIOGRAPHY

Lazaros is a Partner within the EY Consulting practice in Greece, leading the EY AI/GenAI Center of Excellence and the EY Robotics Lab within the EY AI & Data Center of Excellence in Athens, Greece. He has also served as EY Consulting AI Leader in the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) region from 2022 to 2024.

 He specializes in AI/GenAI projects across language, image, video and audio formats, as well as in robotics systems, supporting businesses and organizing AI Factories in the EMEIA region and around the world.

 Before joining EY, Lazaros held senior research and leadership positions at a leading technology company focused on AI dialogue systems, as well at a prominent research center specializing in cognitive technologies, where he worked on projects related to speech recognition and multimodal interfaces. Moreover, he has held academic positions at the American College of Greece (Deree) and the Athens Information Technology (AIT) research center (in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University), reaching the level of Associate Dean.

 Lazaros holds a PhD and an MSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Diploma in EECS from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

 His scientific contributions include more than 50 publications in international scientific journals and more than 70 papers presented in peer-reviewed international conferences, as well as the editorship of a book on artificial intelligence.

 He holds 13 international patents and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Additionally, Lazaros has served in organizing committees and review boards of several international scientific journals, conferences, and workshops.
